Course Description:
Let’s share the creative experience of painting in WATERCOLOR!
Learn a range of techniques in watercolor painting and develop your own unique style of painting. You will be encouraged to explore various techniques and mix colors to become comfortable with the medium of watercolor. We will begin with discussions about composition. You will paint at your own pace with individual instruction and encouragement.
For experienced painters, Beth Stark encourages those with a work-in-progress to bring it along for guidance on problem-solving.
It’s never too late to learn to paint. Celebrate life through ART!
Watercolor Supply List: (Materials for beginners or bring your existing supplies)
- # 2 Pencil or mechanical pencil, • pencil sharpener,
- Watercolor Brushes: ROUND brushes size # 12, & # 8
- Watercolor Paper: pad of student grade paper 9 x 12 or 11 X
- 15 or your favorite watercolor paper or block of watercolor paper
- Board: if using paper (not block) a piece of masonite or hardwood to provide a surface to paint on
- Palette: best choice has paint storage sections and large palette space (talk with Beth she may provide a suggested palette if you need to purchase one)
- Tape: artist’s tape or masking tape (if using paper and board)
- Watercolor Paint Tubes: basic suggested colors /Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Yellow dark, Yellow Ochre, Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Sienna, Sepia
- Water spray bottle (atomizer bottle)
- water container for washing brushes
- Paper towels – Top Job is very absorbent
Optional:
- Watercolor Flat Brush: size # 8 /and any of your favorite brushes
- Natural (not faux) Sea Sponge – irregular edges best (sample shown in class)
- Watercolors: Cerulean, Indigo, CadmiumYellow light & your favorites

ABOUT BETH STARK:
Beth has been painting for more than 28 years. She studied in Atlanta with various teachers and attended many workshops to give her much experience in painting and teaching styles. She taught in Roswell, GA before moving to the Atchafalaya Basin and then teaching n Lafayette, LA. See her work on the website www.bethstark.com. Her work has been collected from coast to coast in the US and hangs in Europe and Japan. She welcomes you to take a class or visit her class at Nunu’s in Arnaudville.
